Powder Room Visions

The September Backcountry mag arrived in my mailbox yesterday, the Gear Guide. So today I get to flip through and drool over all the gear I can't afford. Plenty of white dreams though for my mind to wander off to today at work. I think I'm going to need to pop some ski-porn into the DVD player tonight and pop a beer, maybe smoke a cigarette when i'm done.
TK if the weather pattern stays fairly true to what we've seen recently, I think NE has a good chance at having a repeat performance of last year's snows. Overall it has just been cooler and a more "normal" feeling this summer...some hot, some cool, some rainy, some dry spells. This winter I could do without all the freezing rain though. I think I should be booking a trip out to Cali cause they're due for a big year.
That leads me to what's been brewing in my mind the past week or two, this year's winter trip out west. TK, I know you would have a x-mas break, what other winter va-kays do you have? Seth & Hils, I realize you won't be quite as flexible as last year. You guys have a good time or week other than the x-mas week? Grayson...Natty-king?
My first thought is a trip to the Uinta Mountains. Seth, you would probably be the best source of info about possible yurts or cabins for rent. The Uintas seem like a good halfway point for the western parties involved and seem like an awesome mtn range to explore. Thoughts?

Hey Dave-
Way to start thinking about the important stuff. Clearly we should wait and see how the systems and patterns develope, but... I think it would be a great year to reconnect with the steeps and Deeps of JH. You know the lodging is free, and I wouldn't make you sleep on the couch like you know TK would. Come rip with me and the NATTY-KING. I hope my knee will be ready for the Beast of the East Dave Green (as opposed to that chump Electronicabalsbaughnica). No worries Quinn, I know you rip on the teles.

Greeny....
Wow, you're actually going to be allowed to leave Vermont this year?? In that case I'm all in for a group ski trip!! Christmas is the best time for me and I'll definitely be in Jackson Hole for a couple days. But there's talk of heading up to the cascades to ski as well b/c Erica's brother is getting married. My spring break starts on the week of March 27th this year so we may hit last day of the "NEW" tram.... Other than that, I'm up for taking a couple days off from school in Jan or Feb at the Drop of a hat so lets talk. Matty got the new 4 buckle TX Scarpas...bastard!! Went with the Copper and Winter Park pass this year, thought I'd change it up a little! Peace, TK
PS - Natkin, can't wait to see that classic Tele style you're known for this winter :)

Allowed to leave Vermont?? TK, I tell my woman it's like this, you without me is Harry Melvin with out the Bluenotes, you ain't never gonna go plantinum.
Tim, while a trip up to Jackson would be on the top of my list, I'm not sure if I quite be able to make it work. I think logistically it would be a lot harder...but it's definitely an option. Thanks for the offer.

One of my local bc haunts looks to be under the gun of development. Oh well, I'm not crying. Snowmobilers have been trashing the snow in recent years anyway. But it was nice for early season snow before the better local spots got filled in.

Greenbean-
How does the weekend of the 24/25 of January look? I really can't miss any work around then, but I am free that weekend and can definitely be at the top of Teton pass by 3:30 pm in time for afternoon back country sessions. Sorry my schedule is so tight- the next weekend (jan. 31/feb. 1) is no good for me. Lets speak by phone at some point.
