In The Snow Belt

So far this winter, whenever the weather forecasters have called for my town/area to receive lets say 3-6 inches of snow, the way to actually figure out how much snow I'll get at my house is to cut the range in half...ergo I would expect 1-3 inches. Forecast 6-12...receive 3-6.
Nice change when all of a sudden we actually get the snow they are predicting or more. Tuesday forecast 6-12", receive 10". Last night forecast 1", receive 5". Manchester, the town just south of me only received 5" on Tuesday and 1" last night. Even Stratton only received a dusting last night. As for right now the forecast for Friday night is another 6-12", hopefully the snow gods deliver with the proper amount again.
Quinn & Erik I'm know you guys are bumming, but I'm pretty bummed you guys can't partake cause I ain't got no partners in crime here. Quinn, I know you've had plenty of good days this year, Erik you still got plenty of good days ahead. I'm all for a trip to the whites in the near future too. Maybe some good training for your BC trip?

Based on the number of hours Bals has spent in the "Situation Room" in the last 5 months, I'm not sure if any trips to the Whites will prepare him for the Beat Down he's going to receive upon entering BC. I can see myself strapping gear to my 80lb pack to "lighten" the load for Bals on our 4000ft slog to Asulkan Hut. Then again, it'll be my first day on skis in three weeks tomorrow, I can't really talk shit. Big storm coming in on SAturday night though, cross the fingers for a POW explosion on Sunday.

by no means is my season over mr. green. i've got 24 ribs in there, and if 3 are giving me shit, then it's tough shit for them.

but, no, really, i'll be skiing again, perhaps as soon as late next week.

can't really complain though, this is the first fresh snow this entire season i've not enjoyed.

So Dorset got pretty much shit on by the snow gods last week and so I got to enjoy the spoils all weekend. By Saturday morning there was 19" of new snow on my front lawn (okay, puny by most standards but its more than i've seen in a while down here).
Saturday morning went two towns north of dorset to ski some hills i've been scoping for a few years. Unfortunately the base of the hills lie at about 800' and top out at 1900'. Also they didn't get the snow we got. At the top, there was only 13" new on basically no base. It was a little scrappy, but got 2 semi-fun runs. That afternoon went up to a place about 10 min from my house, Merck forest. At the top of the skin (~2600')there was 23" new and was practically too deep for the lower-moderate angle woods there. Had to go to the steeper faces to enjoy cranking big turns and face shots.
Sunday went up into Dorset Hollow, a small box canyon with some steep walls and several rock slides with up to a 1000' vert. Unfortunately I had trouble locating the slide I was gunning for and my dog ended up with massive snowballs in her fur, enough to draw blood. So I had to turn around, but at about 3300" I found 34" new snow. The skiing was phenomenal despite the steep fall-line and semi-dense growth. Enough snow to just charge it.
Anyway, approaching 40 degrees here today and massive rain/ice storm in the forecast. Good old New England. Quinn, hopefully you get some snow out of it.

TK, sorry to hear man!! Wait, does this mean you weren't skiing in this weekends dump in order to play some b-ball?? Don't mean to be a downer but ankle injuries like that tend to take at least 6-weeks to heal up. I would take Git er dun ribs any day over the ankle-crusher. I think you need to stick to the sports you are good at...didn't you mess up your shoulder doing something odd too?
Balzbaugh, hope your around and healthy this weekend...potential big dumpage Friday/Saturday time frame. Hopefully we'll talk Wednesday when you're done with your 24hr sleep-a-thon.

Tim, your sexism is pretty grotesque, I thought you were better than that.

If you can name me ten Obama accomplishments that have directly affected the lives of millions of others, I'll give you a prize.

Game on.

She created S-CHIP, which insures 6.5 million impoverished children in the country.

After 9/11 she authored legislation to extend health benefits to rescue workers who were working at the wreckage site, fighting the Bush administration tooth and nail because they insisted the air quality following the collapse of the WTC was safe to breathe.
How about the environment? She is the only Senator to hold hearings on environmental injustice, giving impverished communities in georgia the chance to have their voices heard when toxic dumps were causing high rates of cancer in their towns.
