Summer

The edge of summer seems to have worn off, woken up to a couple mornings in the forties and daytime highs aren't seeing 80s as much anymore. Waiting for the year's first issue of backcountry to arrive in my mailbox...anticipating some good old fashioned ski-porn.

Buddy just sent me a link to a short little youtube video of the slide on Equinox he took this past winter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqBz2dSX71w
Weak effort on his part since I recommended bringing crampons & ice axe to ascend, but his partner scoffed at the idea so they were left at home. As a result they were only able to ski the bottom section which is...meh, not worth the effort. You can see the ice section on the left side that has been my drop zone. My goal, if snowpack allows, is to go big and take the whole ice fall section in a drop. Northern Taconics rarely see that much snow unfortunately.

Came across this link while I was doing some research: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_England_Fifty_Finest
Cool to see that my backyard has two mountains in the top dozen of the most prominent peaks of New England. Doesn't help me much with snow totals, but just re-affirms the fact that by New England standards, my backyard has some pretty impressive mtns.

Grayson, the pics looked amazing, your bride looked amazing and you did as well. Hope Panama was incredible and the birds cooperated. Jon hoping everything is coming together nicely, wish I could make it out there for it...especially if you're going to be rocking the green suit. Hope everybody's summer is going well.
