Ruh-roh Raggy

Alright boyz, drop your socks and grab you cox...early next week may deliver a whomper, similar to last year's epics, if the models hold true. The good news is that both major long range models have the same scenario playing out, a big storm heading up the coast from vaginia. Don't worry TK, you guys may see a couple inches out of the storm as comes out of the rockies.
While skiing on trails under the snow guns these past couple days at K-mart was technically considered skiing, it would be nice have real snowflakes under my feet. We'll see how this all plays out but I do know that I would be putting a fresh waxing on my powder planks. Quinn, balz, pierre lets meet up somewhere if this thing bears down on us. I've never skied MRG...?

Colorado La Nina Ass Drilling......

Jesus,
I thought maybe I'd come back to Colorado with three feet fresh so I could try my new fat skis in the famed, dry, Colorado pow. Not happening. Its dry as a bone our here and the rumor is that Keystone is going to get sued for pulling too much water out of The Snake River (Not the WY Snake) to make shitty man-made snow, that's depressing. Thanksgiving and my 10-year high school was off the hook this week (I was on the Cape for 5 days). Now I'm back at school and want to put a revolver to my head. Anyways, I'll cross my fingers for day FIVE of skiing once we get some more snow. La Nina is killing us!
Peace
TK

P.S. - Posting pictures of me using Colorado pole-less monkey jibers as slalom gates isn't necessary on this forum....I'll save the PICS for when we get some real snow.....

Sigh...

The track of this thanksgiving storm is oh so disappointing, sounds like the Gaspe Peninsula should get a healthy dumping of snow though, well over a foot. Turkey day will be my first day of the year out on the planks and it sounds like it should be dumping....rain.
Oh well, the light is at the end of the tunnel though, a storm brewing down in the Arklatex could give southern vt our first big dump of snow at the beginning of next week...or it could bring another rainy dumpage.
TK, where the f$#@ are you? Has the 1 foot of snow Colorado received all season keeping the Knauer-power from gracing us with his presence. The Salt Lake/Mormon connection has also been rather quiet so far, I know you've guys got snow though. Quinn & Nat-king, looked like some pretty turns, much better than my first turns will be tomorrow. Later ya'll and have a great Thanksgiving.

That felt good

We got some snow last night.  After a slow start it looks like we're turning the corner.  Here's two pics from a hike at Stowe this morning.

If you look closely you can see Kip smiling.

Getin' some with Ridley in hot pursuit.

It's snowing in the Tetons

Just back from an overnight in Garnett Canyon, Grand Teton National Park with my friend Chris. The trip started with a nice bike ride on the closed park road to get to the trailhead. We hiked up in mostly dry conditions to camp in Garnett Canyon Meadows. The snow started falling as we set up camp and didn't stop the rest of the trip. Morning greeted us with 12 inches of fresh powder around our tent. We made our way up to the base of our intended destination, the Cave Couloir. After examining the snowpack we decided against entering the Couloir as there was way more than 12 inches of windblown snow there sitting on top of a sketchy crust. Our snow tests triggered it way too easily for comfort. We opted to ski some adjacent more mellow terrain with less exposure. The pow was still deep. As we left the canyon, it was snowing harder than it had been all weekend. We were able to ski about a mile below our camp before removing our skis to prevent core shots on the rocky trail. The snow extended to the valley floor where we finished with a snowy ride out.

I invited Tim to get in on the action. He said something about his leash being too short. I think he had a nice weekend shopping in Idaho Falls. Got a nice new coffee maker. I believe I saw a bag from the GAP too. Must've been a blast.

Hope to get some turns in with Hils and Seth next week before heading off for 10 days in Belize with my girlfriend.

The Best Sneaux Evah!

Yesterday, a couple of new friends and I headed up to Mount Sneaux to get in some turns. They had been blowing for a couple of days, hoping to get enough base to open for the weekend. Surprisingly, none of the staff said anything, and allowed us to take a couple runs in some of the best man made faux sneaux I've ever had the pleasure of skiing.
