First Turns

Ding Ding.

Round one has started with a single combat lap on the local hill today. Came away with a smile and quite a bit of grass stuck in my bindings. Pretty good early season snow totals mounting up in the area with Jay looking like the big winner. Probably close to a foot by tommorow.

No pics...and be grateful for that. Wasn't pretty but it was skiing nonetheless.

Manly Bike for Sale; Craigs List at its best

...The bike says Giant on the side because it's referring to my junk, but rest assured even if you have tiny junk that Giant advertisement is going to remain right where it is. I bought this bike for 300 dollars from a retired mercenary that fought in both World War 1 and World War 2 and had his right arm bitten off by a shark in the Philippines while stationed there as a shark handler. When he sold it to me I had to arm wrestle him for the honor to buy it. I broke his arm in 7 places when I did. He was so impressed with me he offered me to be his son but I thought that was sissy shit so I said no way...

seriously, you've gotta read the rest here...

1-3" of Hope

Forecasters are calling for 1-3" of snow here in the valley's tonight and maybe another inch tomorrow morning. I'm guessing that translates to pretty good snows for northern mountains. Weather prognosticators are making it sound like this early season may give the '02-'03 early season a run for its money (Killington could have been nearly 100% open that year except maybe one or two trails by Thanksgiving)
Erik...are you finishing up by early November or do you need to stick around for a little while for clean up duty? I'm hoping we'll be setting some pre-Thanksgiving skin tracks up Stratton. I think this weekend i'll be p-texing & waxing the skis.
Thought I'd toss a pic of the little guy

The white strip of death....

Gearing up for another early season of overcrowded white strips of death. If you make it through the early season, without getting hammered by some out of control snowboarders, you can reap the benefits of mid-season pow here in Colorado. Cold temps are allowing for some small accumulation and great snow-making temps at A-basin and Loveland pictured below:
