Tim Turns 30 on Jackson Lake

There hasn't been much snow falling in Jackson recently. But we did our best to fine some goods with a little exploration for Tim's 30th birthday last week. We parked at the north end of Jackson Lake and skied across to the mouth of Webb Canyon. The ice seemed thick enough, but it was still a little unnerving being so far out on it. On the other side of the lake we came across the Berry Creek Patrol Cabin and unsuccessfully tried to break into it. To our surprise we also came across some other tracks in this remote area. The rangers had clearly been here within the last couple of day. Following their skin track to the top of Elk Ridge proved much easier than breaking a trail anywhere else. The snow was pretty good on the way down. I even got a couple of face shots. Then the long slog back began. No skins needed for crossing the lake. The 7.5 hour trip was a little longer than anticipated and we missed most of the first half of the superbowl. But it was well worth it. It is always nice to explore a new area.
